Car Club is a club here at Kettle Run High School dedicated to car shows and having fun. This is the Car Club’s second year at KRHS, and this year the car club is sponsored by Michelle Erwin, a teacher at KRHS. The club has grown a lot since their first year.
Car club meets during cougar block in room 426 which take place every first and third Wednesday. During these meetings the members talk about cars, organize car meets, and have fun. The next car club meeting is on Sept-18. The car club is hosting a trunk-or-treat Oct-24. Joining the club is very simple, all you have to do to join is show up to room 426 during the meetings, there are no requirements to join.
The car club has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The members of the car club enjoy talking to other students who have the same interests and making new friends. When asked what he would tell someone interested in joining the club, car club member Logan Gun said, “Do it, it’s fun, and it gives you something to do during the cougar block”. Students involved in the car club say that it has helped them make friends with similar interests and find an outlet for their interest in cars. Car club president Cole Drinkwater’s favorite part of the car club is “Talking to people with the same interests, and the car shows”. The car club has many plans for the future, such as hosting more car shows, gaining more recognition, doing more countywide activities, and handing out flyers before football games to spread awareness about future car shows and club activities. Members of the car club want to work with other clubs at KRHS and other car clubs throughout the county. To enter a car show hosted by the car club you must bring certain items such as food or school supplies. Last, car meet the club collected a large amount of school supplies that they delivered to counseling.
Joining a club is an essential part of high school, and the car club is a great choice if you are interested in cars, meeting new people, and if you are looking to join a club.
