Timothy Miller is one of the multiple vice principals here at Kettle Run High School, and this is his first year as a vice principal at Kettle Run. He has been working in education for 22 years and is very passionate about it. He became a vice principal because he felt that he could make a bigger impact as a vice principal than in the other jobs he’s had in education. His favorite part of being a V.P. is talking to the students he works with, and his least favorite part is having to discipline said students.
Mr. Miller decided to go into education because of his mother. His mother was a teacher’s aide, and she asked him to read a book to her class for Dr. Seuss Day. The way the kids reacted and talked to him about the book motivated him to go back to college so he could become an educator. He has taught health and PE, been the dean of students, and assistant principal, and has also coached soccer. Mr. Miller tries to relate to struggling students and level with them. “School was not easy for me. I was a C student, so I try to relate to kids on that level. I say they have to play the game, whether you want a job or college, you have to do what you have to do. Sometimes kids put too much pressure on themselves to get straight A’s, so you have to find your own path.”
Mr. Miller has had many role models, but possibly the most influential on him was Dr. Huckestien, because “She’s one of the best leaders I’ve ever met, and she built me up. She gave me the tools I needed to help others.”
In conclusion, Mr. Miller’s journey in education has been built up by his personal experiences and the influential people in his life. His passion for making a difference in students’ lives is shown in his dedication and approach to his role as a vice principal. He continues to inspire and assist students in their academic journey so that they can achieve all of their goals, helping them to become the best students they can be. His story is proof of how the people around you can influence you for the better. Mr. Miller’s dedication to education and his ability to connect with students on a personal level make him a great vice principal. His experiences and the lessons he has learned from his role models have equipped him with the skills that he needs to support and guide students effectively. As he continues in his job as a vice principal, Mr. Miller helps to build a safe and helpful environment at Kettle Run that fosters growth and prosperity. His path serves as an inspiration to both students and educators. As he moves forward in his career, Mr. Miller aims to leave an even greater impact on the school community.
